OTTAWA – Field Hockey Canada (FHC) has partnered with the world’s largest hotel group to help teams, athletes, and members save on their accommodation expense.

HERMOSILLO, MEXICO – Just a few days before the Olympic Games were declared open in their country, the Canadian U17 Men’s National Field Hockey Team decided to show a little Olympic spirit of their own while competing in Mexico.
Participating at their first Pan American Youth Championship in Hermosillo, a city relatively undeveloped in the sport, the team decided to donate their spare equipment to local athletes as a way to bolster regional development…

Valentines in Hermosillo
Today began with our normal breakfast consisting of cereal, omelettes, pancakes and fruit. We had the option to eat whenever we pleased
before 9:30 at which time we were to assemble in the hotel lobby.
Our Mexican guides and manager had planned a tourist day in and around Hermosillo.
The day began at the Hermosillo zoo which featured a myriad of animals including giraffes, monkeys, bears, tigers, and lamas…

Bronze Medal Goes to Chile
We woke up today for an Eight-o-clock breakfast, then had a short team meeting about the Chile match that we had later.
We went to the field, most of us were still disappointed about yesterday’s loss.
The game started off well, but Chile scored first goal and then scored goal after goal and we couldn’t stay in the game. Chile won 5-1, and took the Bronze medal.
We stayed and watched the final between Argentina and the USA…

Getting Knocked Out of the Gold Metal Match – USA versus Canada
8:00 am wake up for our morning team swim. After about 20 minutes of refreshing cold water we got out and had breakfast.
We were given 3 to 4 hours of free time to do our home work, emailing our parents and friends but most of the boys spent there time playing poker, watching TV or playing WII.
At 12:00 noon we had a team meeting. The coaches showed some video footage of the USA team and outline our stragies for the upcoming match…

The senior men’s national field hockey team wrapped up their final stage of preparation for next month’s World Cup with a 2-1 victory over the United States Sunday morning in San Diego. It was the fourth Canadian victory in four games against the United States this series.
Canada’s Mark Pearson scored two goals during the first half.
While the match featured less tempo than Saturday’s game, Canada again dominated possession and controlled the majority of opportunities…

The Canadian senior men’s field hockey team defeated the United States 3-1 Saturday afternoon in their third game of a four-match test series. Canada is currently 3-0 on their tour of San Diego and face the US in their final game Sunday morning.
